WHY TOOWOOMBA

The Soil

The Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley and Hampton High Country are Queensland’s “food bowl” growing most of the State’s vegetables. Why? Great soil. For Toowoomba residents that means our home gardens flourish too! And we're pretty happy about that!

Education is a priority

Education a Priority

Toowoomba is the education hub for the region with about a third of residents attending preschool, primary, secondary or tertiary places of learning. Our world-class facilities attract bright minds and entrepreneurial spirits following their dreams. With more than 60 private and public schools, parents almost have too much choice for primary and secondary education! When it comes to careers, TAFE Queensland and the University of Southern Queensland provide fierce competition for tertiary education. In fact, research at USQ has gained international attention as industry leads collaboration with local business.

Transport

Toowoomba is a transport hub which means we are connected for regional, interstate and international opportunities through Wellcamp Airport, the Toowoomba Bypass and the Inland Rail project. When it comes to the daily commute, our smaller population means we travel across town in around 10 minutes.

Toowoomba Parks Gardens and Recreation

Parks Gardens & Recreation

Toowoomba parks and gardens are kind of a big deal to locals – we absolutely love them! It’s where we go to exercise: walk, run, cycle and play sports. We have a Bird Habitat Park with its own lake, expansive views from Picnic Point, a sensory garden at Laurel Bank, Japanese and Gumbi Gumbi Gardens at USQ and let’s not forget the Palms of the Nile at Kearneys Spring. Parks are where we picnic, party and get a sense of the seasons. Our summer is a little cooler under our big shady trees and then in autumn we kick up those  colourful leaves. Winter is chilly and sometimes even our dogs wear coats but spring is our time to shine. Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers draws international attention for its kaleidoscope of colour.
