East

Lockyer Valley, Somerset Region, Scenic Rim

Scenic drives, cute villages, farmgate produce, fabulous cafes and boutiques, historic homes, sheep cheese, camel farm.


Head down the hill along the Warrego Highway towards Brisbane and take in the wonderful food bowl that is the Lockyer Valley.


If you skip over towards the left, you’ll come to the Somerset Region where you’ll find historic towns like Coominya and Esk. You’re also close to all that Lake Wivenhoe has to offer.


If you veer right, you’ll come to the Scenic Rim and let’s just say it’s called that for a reason – it’s beautiful!

West

Western Downs and into the Outback

Farm stays, historic towns, picturesque scenery, fabulous food and exciting events including opera, race days and even a Watermelon Festival.


The towns of Dalby, Bell, Chinchilla, Miles, Dulacca and Wandoan all have unique features through their local industries which might include beef, sheep or crops. They are also blessed with creative and artisanal producers that give each town its own character.

North

South Burnett Region

Hiking and exploring the Bunya Mountains, wineries, stargazing at the Kingaroy Observatory, fishing at Bjekle Peterson Dam or Lake Boondooma, South Burnett Rail Trail, local produce including lavender.


The South Burnett region is famous for its wineries including Queensland’s biggest vineyard at Clovely Estate. With varieties such as Chardonnay, Verdelho, Sangiovese, Shiraz and Merlot; visitors are spoiled for choice – add some local gourmet goodies and you won’t want to leave.

Southern Downs Region

Drive south through Allora and learn about its connection to Mary Poppins.


Girraween National Park, wineries, orchards, vegetable growers and artisanal food producers. As well as fabulous boutiques and galleries. If you have some energy to burn, enjoy the local trails on foot or on mountain bike.


Stanthorpe- is famous for being Queensland’s coldest town! With an elevation of 811m, Stanthorpe celebrates the seasons as if it were in Europe!

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail

Put it on your to do list!

From Ipswich to Yarraman (or vice versa) this 160km rail trail takes in some breathtaking scenery and lots of history through the country towns of Fernvale, Lowood, Coominya, Esk, Toogoolawah, Harlin, Moore, Linville, Blackbutt and Yarraman.


Depending on your fitness, you can cover the trail in one huge day or a leisurely three or four days. Out There Cycling has a shuttle service to make the journey a little easier if you’d like to cycle or walk in stages.


The Link Trail joins the BVRT to the South Burnett Rail Trail to create a massive 305km of cycling enjoyment!
