  • Healthcare & Social Assistance

    With three large regional hospitals and another in the pipeline, extensive allied health and aged care this is the largest employment sector in Toowoomba. By the end of 2024 it is expected that the number of jobs in healthcare and social assistance will increase by more than 2 000. see current opportunties within Darling Downs Health HERE

  • Education & Training

    Toowoomba has more than 60 schools and tertiary education through the University of Southern Queensland and TAFE Queensland as well as many industry specific training organisations. 

  • Construction

    Proposed major projects including  inland rail, the Toowoomba Hospital redevelopment, Charlton Sports Precinct and the MacIntyre Wind Farm are expected to generate signficant job opportunites.  


    As of March 2023, there were approximately 4,480 operating construction industry businesses in the Darling Downs/Toowoomba region, employing a total of 9,080 workers. 

  • Manufacturing

    Food products manufactured in the Toowoomba Region include meat, bakery and dairy products, milled grain as well as smaller products such as confectionary, soft drink and biscuits. Advanced manufacturing includes specialisations in mining, agriculture and transport.


    Manufacturing has added immense value to the agricultural and transport and logistics sectors, as well as supporting mining operations in the Surat Basin. Manufacturing contributes $847 million to the Toowoomba Region economy and is the region’s second largest international exporter which is driven by the region’s specialisation in food product manufacturing.
