dine local

When it comes to what’s on the menu in Toowoomba, a mix of well established venues and new culinary experiences means the city’s food and dining scene is vibrant and evolving, according to local food writer Kristen O’Brien from Dine Darling Downs.
“I have seen so much change and growth in the last 10 years in the foodie scene,” Kristen says.
“We have so much to offer here from cosy cafés, trendy laneway bars and eateries to top quality restaurants and of course our famous country pubs.”
Kristen says Toowoomba is also high on the radar for foodies in the South East.
“It is the perfect weekend escape for our friends just down the range in Brisbane, we find they are often surprised at how cosmopolitan the dining scene is here.”
With a bounty of fresh produce on Toowoomba’s doorstep, there’s no shortage of local flavours for home cooks to experiment with too.
“The abundance of fresh local produce is also a drawcard, with the Toowoomba Farmers Market a popular spot on Saturday mornings for locals and visitors to stock up on some farm fresh fruit and vege and freshly baked bread,” Kristen says.
“There are plants, flowers, meat, eggs, honey and so much more, all made or grown on the Darling Downs.”
